Older women having babies is insane!
This is my opinion. What’s yours? Should women in there 40′s have babies, let alone twins and advertise it on the cover of magazines? I think NO!
I was is the supermarket this past weekend. I finished shopping and approached the cash register line. Of course, there are plenty of “plus sale” items, magazines included. There were two other women in line ahead of me. As I perused the magazines there were am alarming number of celebs advertising being pregnant. Thinking to myself, I guess my mouth didn’t understand that I was thinking to myself. At any rate, I spoke aloud saying, “I just don’t understand old women having babies!” The women ahead of me began to laugh heartily. Inquiring about their laughter, because it had to be about me (really?), they responded, “We just had that conversation!” I said I was only 54 years old, a gramma of a 4-year-old and one year old boys. Explaining my point further I said they wore me out and I needed my rest after having them for four days a week while their mom goes to school. I am totally exhausted and NEED SLEEP!!!
As a younger mom, I was 20 when my daughter was born, all of my energy was divided between child, work, housework and life in general. I was a single parent. There are benefits to having a spouse or a partner but I refused to acknowledge this fact back then. My first foster child came into my life when my kid was three years old. I quit working outside of home after our babysitter took my kid across the country without my permission. I opened a licensed 24 hour/day childcare service. Many of my customers had jobs that kept them from home three to four days at a time.
Once I became a foster parent of one child I found myself taking in foster kids and as my home filled to capacity I had to give up my childcare business to have the maximum allowed number of children in my home. The total number being six. With my kid there was enough room for five.
Childcare business, then foster care provider, and working from home was exhausting back then. It would be insane to think about being that person at my current age. That is why I say older women having children is insane!
